Implants & Social Interaction

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

It’s funny how people react to my implants – I’ve noticed that people are drawn in by my ears, at 40mm they are hard not to notice. The most popular question (yeah you’ve guessed it) did it hurt? Stretching ear lobes is a piece of piss compared to most other mods, it just takes time and patience. Then they notice the implants and the fun begins. . .

My Head Implants

Here they are after just over one month – there is still some swelling. Still, I’m really pleased with them so far. Getting more ink tomorrow, will post images as soon as I’ve finished.

The Last Stitch

Has now been removed from my scalp, there is nothing quite picking the little buggers out – Mmmm satisfying. I also use Bio-oil on the incisions to reduce scarring.

Head Implant Procedurals

I thought I’d share the pics from my head implant procedure, ‘cos I’m nice like that :) – they are pretty gory; more after the break, if you can stomach it. . . (more…)

Suffering for your art

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Oh yeah baby! A swollen head and two black eyes – REEESULT! Libby keeps laughing at me too.

Bloody Hell!

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

When everyone kept telling me that there was loads of blood during the procedure, they weren’t kidding! This is just a little bit of the aftermath.

Today my head is a little less sore (no headaches as yet) and slightly swollen – which is to be expected. Getting used to sleeping on my back has been the hardest part of all this, but I’ve been managing to get a reasonable amount of sleep.

Heads up!

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

So I went and done and did it! Yup The implants are now fully installed beneath my skin – Did it hurt? Of freakin’-course!
Here you can see the markings of where they’ll be placed and we eventually want them to sit – I’m not going to post too many gory images here, as some folks don’t appreciate the gore factor – You can find all the images on my Flickr account. . .

Anyway that was yesterday and I was informed that I would have the mother of all headaches today, but so far I’ve been fine. My head feels funny but I’m not in any kind of pain. I even managed to get a reasonable night of sleep. Can’t really see much apart from a big swollen bonce :-) .

There Will Be Blood. . .

Friday, March 7th, 2008

. . .Oh yes, there will be and lots of it too! Yes, for today is implant day. Six of the buggers, three either side of my hairline – it’s been a long time coming and I don’t mind admitting I’m a little bit apprehensive.

Ever since I first saw 3D art implants I knew that I would be having them done myself. Over the last few years I’ve had six Teflon implants in my arm and one silicone circular barbell in my hand. Obviously I was leaving the best ’til last, well to tell the truth, we have been waiting almost a year for the implants themselves. This is not as bad as it seems as I have a busy life/work schedule, and when they did arrive we had to do some careful planning to fit the procedure in.

That day is today. I know that head procedures bleed like a bastard, but then its not me that has to deal with that side of things :-) – I do wonder if this is the modification that will push me over the edge (so to speak) as it’s probably the most extreme one that I’ve done.

Time will tell – I’ll keep you posted. . .

My Hand

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I’ve been using bio oil on my hand since having my implant, three months ago. I’ve got to say I’m pleased with the results, the initial swelling was quite horrific and took a good few weeks to go down. Seems to be settling in quite nicely now.
The procedure, although quite intense, was over quickly.

I also had my engagement tattoo touched up on Monday because it had ‘kicked out’ really badly, as finger/hand tattoo are prone to do.

Arm Implants

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

It’s now been 18 months since I had the Teflon implants put in to my right arm, so here’s a little picture of them straight after the procedure was carried out.
I did write a piece about the procedure here and living with them on a day-to-day basis too.
