F.A.Q – Nipple Piercing
Q: I have inverted nipples can they be pierced?
A: It’s not always advisable to pierce inverted nipples; you should let a competent piercer have a look to see if they are suitable.
Q: I’m a guy and my nipples a very small, can they be pierced?
A: If you are a man, the nipple piercing normally is placed further back into the areola anyway, so the size of your actual ‘nipple’ is less of an issue than you think. As always get your friendly piercer to take a look!
Q: How painful is the nipple piercing?
A: When compared to other piercings the nipples are probably a little higher on the ‘bite’ scale. That said you could always have them numbed. Vertical nipple piercings seen to have more ‘bite’ than horizontals for the simple reason that they are generally pierced further back.
Q: Which side is the ’straight ’side?
A: Oh dear, you seem to be stuck with this old cliché that left and right denote your sexual preference. This is utter nonsense, and you should pierce whatever side you prefer or both sides if you want to!
Q: Should I get both nipples pierced at the same time?
A: I would say that if you are intending to get them both done eventually, why not save time (and money) and get them done then and there.
Q: Can I breast feed in future?
A: All evidence so far suggests that pierced nipples do not hinder breast feeding, However you obviously would not want to get them done if you are considering becoming a Mum in the near future, as they can take a year, or more to fully settle.
Q: How many times can you pierce a nipple?
A: Most piercers will happy to pierce the nipple horizontally and vertically (not at the same time) always working backwards (towards the body) some will also pierce the nipple a third time, there are no hard and fast rules, but it obviously depends on how you are formed to enable a third piercing.
Q: Will the piercing affect the sensitivity of the nipple?
A: Some people report higher sensitivity and some lower, I can say that my nipple are definitely more responsive after having both horizontal and vertical piercings, your mileage may vary!
Q: How long do nipples take to heal?
A: As with any piercing, it’s impossible to give definitive times, but they can take 18 months or more to fully settle.
Q: Is the nipple susceptible to rejection (growing out)?
A: No, as long as you do not try to stretch them before they have settled and don’t ’swing’ on them.
