My Tongue & Prince Albert Piercings
Why did you do it?
Is the most common question I get asked lately, along with did it hurt? The first question is easy to answer, I wanted to! It seems to me that you either love body piercing or you hate it. Personally I felt that I really couldn’t manage anymore without it, and said to my (then) girlfriend, “you know I think I’ll get my tongue pierced”.
At first she seemed indifferent saying things like “it’s you’re body” but after a few days she was really enthusiastic about the idea for some reason
Thick skull!
One day before the piercing a thought penetrated my thick skull (anyone that knows me will tell you this is rare) and it went a bit like this, “if you’re going to get one thing done why not save time and get a few things done” so now I was totally up for some serious piercing action! But what shall I have? Well the tongue was a forgone conclusion, I know! I proclaimed, “lets go for an Ampallang” (this is a barbell horizontally through the Glans), which is probably the most intense piercing there is, well for a man anyway.
So I called the piercing studio to get some professional advice, they told me the tongue was no problem but the Ampallang was a bit intense for a novice, why not go for a Prince Albert (through the urethra and out of the underside of the Glans) “this was a better starting point” they said, and if I liked it I could have an Ampallang at a latter date, as the two work well together.
Bad Idea?
That evening I asked my (then) girlfriend what she thought about the genital piercing idea, she liked the Idea but was a little shocked that I was willing to entrust “little Stu” to someone who was going to put a sharp instrument through it, but after looking at all the details on the Net she seemed to want it done more than I did, incidentally there are some good sites out there check www.perforations.com (the site is now defunct) for a start, as it is a great resource for piercing information.
The day had arrived!
I would be lying if I were to tell you I wasn’t nervous, but I was also exited and this seemed to cancel out the fear. We found the studio and my girlfriend finished her cigarette, I looked at her and said, “let’s go” to be honest she looked more nervous than I did (in fact she told me after that she was petrified). Once inside I filled out the necessary form and we waited about twenty minutes then it was my turn…
Warren was the piercer and after talking to the guy I was impressed with his knowledge of piercing, let’s just say there’s not much he doesn’t know about body piercing! Once inside the piercing room I asked about the amp, he said “I can do an Ampallang now, but I would go for the p.a. first by way of an introduction to genital piercing” I thought about for a second and decided to take his advice (hey if you don’t take advice from the professionals then you must be stupid!)
Down to business . . .
The tongue was first so Warren had a quick look at my tongue and said “that’s fine” he then prepared all the stuff the clamp, needle and jewellery etc… I then sat on the chair and prepared, the tongue was clamped, trouble was that I couldn’t stop shaking the reason for this (well 90% of it) was the fact that I had been taking a very large amount of a particular (prescription) drug, which is known to make you shake, I did some breathing exercises and Warren tried again, the next thing I knew it was all over, I couldn’t believe it, amazingly fast! Next up was the P.A. the only thing I felt with that piercing was the needle coming out of the other side, which made me jump a bit.
The Tongue piercing was not that painful, I would say that it’s akin to biting you’re Tongue and we’ve all done that haven’t we? The P.A. was again not that bad (anaesthetic was used on the P.A.) and my bird found the cotton bud thing to be real funny, well laugh while you can for soon the day will come for you’re vertical clitoris hood piercing ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Bloody Pisser!
The most disturbing part of the whole experience was the pissing blood, I would advise anyone having a P.A. (or Ampallang) to sit down and don’t look down the pan when you flush. But it only lasts for a day or so, thankfully!
The next stage of piercing is the healing, which in my opinion the hardest part for the first three days I didn’t speak and ate food which was soft e.g. ice cream, yogurt and Weetabix. This worked well as my Tongue didn’t swell that much and I experienced no pain, I’ve found it hard not to play with the barbell though, the P.A. just needed soaking in warm salty water at night, and no sex for at least two weeks aaaaaaargh.
The aftercare of you’re body piercings is very important, look after them and follow you piercers guide lines they are there to help you, if you mistreat you’re piercings and they cause trouble it’s you’re fault so there.
Do I like my piercings?
Hell yeah! So does my girlfriend and guess what? I’m going back for more soon, I think nipples and the Ampallang are next on the list I must admit to needing a few double whiskies’ when I go for the Ampallang. The other thing about body piercing is the reaction that you get from other people, sometimes when people are nasty and or rude I say “screw you” (or similar) and walk away, although it’s rare to get a reaction like that, indeed most people ask the same questions “like did it hurt?” or “doesn’t get in the way when you eat” but don’t get inpatient with them as you will get a lot of that. Perhaps I should write a FAQ list and carry it on me everywhere I go? The other thing is that my lovely girlfriend insists on telling everyone we meet, and saying “go on open your mouth”.
Face facts
I have the greatest respect for people who have facial piercings I personally wouldn’t mind my septum pierced, trouble is that people tend to think you’re a total psycho ( I have my moments I can tell you) for some reason, this is total bullshit how the hell can you judge a person like that( it would be easy if, say every killer was born with a tattoo on the forehead).
To be honest all the people I’ve met, with facial piercings tend to be as “normal” if not more so than anyone else without piercings, one day the general public will view body piercing in a positive light, and not sit in judgment.
All in all I must say that if you are thinking of getting a piercing go do it cos’ you wont regret it, find a good body piercing studio (one that only does body piercing is best) and have a chat with them to see if you like their attitude.
