Jewellery

Confused by all the different jewellery? Here’s the basics…

BCR

THE BALL CLOSURE RING
Or B.C.R, most piercings come with this as standard (Ear, Eyebrow, P.A, Conch, Nipple, Nostril, Navel, Clitoris, Labia, Tragus, etc…) this is to  facilitate the (effective) cleaning process. Generally a 1.6mm size is fitted at first. The balls come in 4/6mm sizes and are held in place by the tensile force of the ring, you can get many type’s of balls to fit:- glow in the dark plastic, engraved, or even dice!

BARBELL

THE BARBELL
Piercings not in the group above (normally) come with one of the things (Tongue, Ampallang, Apradravya, basically any piercing where it’s not sensible to install a b.c.r initially). The ball/s screw on, and can be substituted for more exotic designs if desired.

LABRET STUD

THE LABRET STUD
This is a common site on the face and also can also substitute (once healed) the B.C.R in the conch piercing, for instance as it’s very subtle in this position. The ball can be changed for all sorts of interesting stuff.

CIRCULAR BARBELL THE CIRCULAR BARBELL
As you can see this is just a barbell made into a circle for want of a better description, this is most commonly seen in the septum, although you can “normally” have one anywhere that you would have a ball closure ring, options are as the barbell, with various screw-on extra’s.
CURVED BARBELL THE CURVED BARBELL
You will see this quite often in the navel, (Not as the initial jewellery though, as a BCR should be fitted first to facilitate proper cleaning!) sometimes with a “jewelled” ball, but there are other placing options for this piece namely the P.A. (Although I prefer the bcr in mine).
BANANABELL THE BANANABELL
Primarily used on Navel piercings (once healed!) The bananabell as with the ‘curved barbell’ can be fitted with a jewelled lower ball. The bananabell is sometimes also worn in the VCH piercing.

NOSTRIL STUD THE NOSTRIL STUD
Once healed you can change your BCR used as initial jewellery in the Nostril piercing, for one of these. Never have a Nostril piercing with those nasty 9Ct Gold things they use in ‘piercing guns’ you have been warned!!!
