Topping off the sleeve

Topping off the sleeve

Yesterday I had a couple more hours of work done on the sleeve, I’d say it’s 90% finished now. Sorry about the shonky image, it’s not the easiest place to photograph on your own.

The tongue split is six weeks old today too - No problems to report there and I have full use of my tongue back and have some new tricks too ;-)

I’ve got to sort out the branding and suspension out for the next couple of months too. . .

tongue split

It’s day 12 and the tongue split is healing nicely! I’m amazed by the cross-section, in which you can clearly see the fistula from the stretched tongue piercing. You can also see the new skin forming on the ‘cut’ sections of tissue. I am also finding it easier to speak and slowly loosing the lisp as the muscle builds in each side of the split.

The First Stitch

It’s been a week since the tongue split, no major issues. I cut this stitch out as it was annoying me, may try and get a few others as well. I am back on normal food now too, had a nice spicy curry last night :-).

Day Three in the Tongue Split House: Well My tongue is a little less swollen today - Most of the ancillary swelling has gone, just swollen around the actual split. I’m still unable to speak properly. Was putting my washing away yesterday (yeah, I do my own washing) and realised I am unable to wear the above t-shirt any more!

Ice, Ice baby

Day two and the tongue is not as swollen as yesterday - I’m taking ibuprofen and taking plenty of ice.

The first day

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

It took me a while to get to sleep last night - had some weird dreams when I managed it as well! My tongue is just achy, I’ve just pulled it apart (not that it was stuck together) and rinsed it with saline solution. I’ll be doing that four/five times a day for the first week or so, after that I can drop the saline and just keep exercising it for the first three months.

The tongue split is one of those body mods where the initial procedure is a walk in the park compared to the first week of living with it. I did manage to eat some food last night and am going to try to eat something in a while - Weetabix and banana is probably soft enough to manage. :-)

Today I’ll be mostly: Downing lots of ibuprofen, not speaking and sucking on ice to reduce the swelling.

The tongue is now two

My split has been done and I’m stoked! Split is nice and deep, it goes right back to the frenum. Now I just need to keep seperating it and rinsing with saline for the next few days. More after the break, including gory images :-)

Only Hours to Go

Splitting Up Is Hard To Do

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Less than 48 hours to go to my tongue split procedure! I removed the 10mm barbell from my tongue earlier this week, to allow the tongue to return to normal, so that it can be cut correctly. I’ve been wearing that barbell for about four years - It was custom made for me and it feels really weird without it. Sacrifices have to be made for the greater good :-)

Hooky

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I purchased some 4mm flesh hooks from the shop (I take my own medicine) for my suspension coming up in September. Was meant to be getting some more ink this week, but things changed at the last minute and I have to forego that.

Good News Everybody!
I’ve arranged to have my tongue split next week! I’ll be doing that on Friday, to give me a quiet weekend of reflection before I have to try to talk again. I am really stoked about the whole thing, the only bit I’m not looking forward to is the stitches. I’ll let you know how it goes.
